Study description

The bachelor programme offers the same high artistic-musical education as various other studies (e.g. diploma, songwriting etc.), but is completed with an academic degree. Although the title BA (Bachelor of Arts) is generally of less importance to musicians and creative professionals, the VMI also offers attractive study opportunities for this purpose: The bachelor programmes are funded with scholarships of up to €2,800 and include 6 semesters of study time in Vienna and 2 semesters of study time in the music metropolis of London. In addition, students receive regular lessons from British musicians while they are still studying in Austria, and they can also spend shorter study periods in London beforehand. These study opportunities are coordinated between the VMI and the ICMP (Institute of Contemporary Music Performance), a London-based VMI partner school. The following academic degrees are available:

Study profile

The focus of the study is the chosen academic degree but the Bachelor is generally based upon the Diploma, Creative Musicianship, Songwriting, Music Production and Music Business study profiles. A common goal is the musician’s individual and artistic development combined with both a comprehensive education and being part of an international musical/artistic community.
