Completing an OLS language test is possible for all students (study visits and internships) for stays of 14 days or more, provided that the language of instruction or working language is available. Tests and courses are available in the 24 official EU languages and other languages of the program countries (Icelandic, Norwegian, Macedonian, Serbian and Turkish). It is not compulsory to take a test in the working language before starting the program, but it is highly recommended! Inclusion at the Vienna Music Institute: Erasmus+ for All
The VMI actively promotes an inclusive and supportive learning environment in which all students - regardless of their individual challenges - have equal opportunities and possibilities to successfully participate in mobility programs. In line with the Erasmus+ program, which emphasizes inclusion and diversity, it ensures that all participants receive fair and equal opportunities.
Under the guiding principle of “Erasmus+ for all”, the program aims to make its offers accessible to all people - regardless of origin, background or personal circumstances. By consistently promoting inclusion and diversity, Erasmus+ ensures that international learning experiences, whether in the form of studying, training or internships abroad, are open to all social groups.
To achieve this goal, the program offers individual support for those who face particular challenges. The group of participants with “fewer opportunities” receive support in the form of a lump-sum top-up of 250.00 euros per month. The following groups receive additional support (“fewer opportunities” top-up) for people with fewer opportunities:
Students with Children: Erasmus+ provides extra funding for students who take their child or children along on their mobility period. This support covers the additional costs associated with caring for a child while studying or training abroad.
Students: Students with physical, mental, or health impairments, including chronic conditions, can apply for financial support to cover the increased expenses they may face during their stay abroad.
Staff: Erasmus+ also extends financial support to staff with disabilities or chronic illnesses if their stay abroad incurs higher costs compared to staying in their home country.
By fostering inclusion and diversity, Erasmus+ ensures that all participants, regardless of their background, can experience and benefit from international mobility opportunities.
Inclusion support - Preparing for your Erasmus+ mobility
As part of an ERASMUS+-funded stay, it is possible to receive additional financial support for real costs. This support is aimed in particular at participants with physical, mental or health-related disabilities and students with caring responsibilities. The Erasmus+ inclusion support covers additional costs that are actually incurred either during the preparation for the stay abroad or during the stay abroad and cannot be covered by the Top-Up Individual Support. Inclusion support is calculated individually. Additional costs can only be applied for before the stay abroad. If you would like to apply for inclusion support, please contact the International Office at least three months before the start of your stay in order to initiate the application process and prepare a detailed cost estimate. Please note that the complete application for inclusion support must be submitted at least 8 weeks before the start of your mobility period.
Erasmus+ special grant:
If you have special access requirements during your Erasmus+ mobility stay, you can apply for an additional Erasmus+ grant. This grant is intended for students and staff with physical, mental or health-related disabilities and can be awarded in addition to the regular Erasmus+ grant for study, internship or staff mobility.
When preparing for your Erasmus+ stay, it is important that you specify your needs and assess any additional costs associated with your condition. This will allow you to apply for the Erasmus+ Special Needs Grant and ensure that you have the necessary funds for a successful mobility experience.
What Are Your Access Needs?
When preparing for your Erasmus+ mobility, it's essential to consider and communicate your specific access needs. Areas that may qualify for additional support, based on individual requirements, include but are not limited to:
-
Adapted Accommodation: Housing that meets your accessibility needs (e.g., wheelchair access, accessible bathrooms).
-
Travel Assistance: Help with transportation arrangements, such as accessible vehicles or assistance at airports and train stations.
-
Medical Attendance: Coverage for necessary medical support or treatment during your stay abroad.
-
Supportive Equipment: Provision of specialized devices or tools required for daily life or learning.
-
Adaptation of Learning Materials: Ensuring that course materials are available in formats that accommodate your specific needs, such as Braille, large print, or digital formats.
-
Accompanying Person: Assistance for those who may need a personal assistant or caregiver to travel with them.
By outlining your access needs early in the application process, you can apply for the Erasmus+ special needs support grant to cover these additional costs, ensuring a smooth and inclusive mobility experience.
Applying for the grant for students with fewer opportunities (Top-up "Fewer Opportunities") is straightforward and can be done as part of your Erasmus+ funding application. To apply for inclusion support, follow these steps:
Reach out to the International Office for guidance on the application process and to discuss your specific needs and get in contact with your personal Erasmus+ Coordinator.
