Combined study (music performance & IGP)

Study description

The combined concert and IGP degree program represents the optimal combination of artistic and pedagogical studies and is one of the most popular degree programs at VMI. Due to the coordinated curricula, both study programs can be completed in parallel in a particularly economical way, in order to complete two degree programs simultaneously at the end of the study period. The degrees include, on the one hand, an artistic study of the highest musical training level and, on the other hand, a study with a state and internationally recognized teaching qualification, which qualifies the student to teach at various educational institutions as well as for further master studies.

Study profile

The special advantage of the combined concert and IGP studies lies in the combination of a practical-artistic and pedagogical-didactic education. On the one hand, students are trained to become virtuosic and creative concert and studio musicians, and on the other hand, to become comprehensively trained music teachers. In addition to the basic training in various styles relevant to modern music, students have the opportunity to specialize in various stylistic directions (e.g. jazz, pop, rock, etc.) during the course of their studies. The goal of this combined study program is to promote the development of comprehensively trained musical personalities and music educators alike, thus enabling optimal professional opportunities in both the concert and teaching fields.
