Interview with TELICHO

In this VMI Spotlight, we introduce Linnéa Wallner, a student of Electronic Music & Sound Design and Creative Musicianship at VMI, who works as a musician, DJ, and producer under the name TELICHO.

How did your journey into electronic music begin, and what led you to develop Telicho?

I started very early with songwriting, guitar, and piano. When I was 16 I discovered electronic music and began DJing, and that’s when my path shifted fully into the electronic scene and eventually into TELICHO.

Where does the artist name TELICHO come from?

Telicho is a blend of Techno and Linn, my real name. It represents both the music I make and who I am behind it.

How would you describe your creative process?

I build a solid foundation first so I can quickly move into sound design and details. That structure helps me get into a flow state fast.

What role does intuition play in your work?

Intuition is essential because creativity can’t be forced. The most meaningful moments usually come from things that happen naturally and unplanned.

Which musical elements are you most drawn to?

The low end. If the kick and bass don’t hit right, nothing else matters.

How do you know when a track or set represents you?

When I enter a kind of hypnotic flow while playing. I forget everything around me and time disappears. That’s when I know it’s truly me.

How has VMI influenced your approach?

The environment and people at VMI help me grow both artistically and personally. The exchange with other students and teachers pushes me forward.

How has studying at VMI shaped you as an artist?

It helps me see problems from different perspectives and explore things I wouldn’t on my own, which makes me a stronger artist overall.

What are you currently working on?

Two EPs are coming in 2026, including one on a long-time dream label. I also have several singles already signed to compilations, and I’m developing new projects with my event series „Back to Underground“. I’m really excited about what’s ahead after a strong and defining 2025.

Telicho is a Vienna-based DJ, producer, and event organizer, set to complete her Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Music & Sound Design by the end of 2026. Growing up, she attended various music schools andexplored different genres, starting in the singer/songwriter and rock/pop scenes before fully immersing herself in electronic music. As a DJ, Telicho’s sets are defined by relentless energy and hypnotic depth. By skillfully layering tracks, she creates evolving soundscapes that captivate the dancefloor, blending pulsating rhythms and deep, driving grooves to maintain an intense and immersive flow. She has performed at renowned clubs and festivals, including Grelle Forelle Vienna, Postgarage Graz, Das Werk Wien, and Rave on Snow Festival, as well as numerous other venues across Austria and Germany. Beyond performing, Telicho is the founder of “Back to Underground”, an event series dedicated to bringing the scene back to its roots. With a focus on authenticity over commercialization, she curates events that move away from predictable, market-driven lineups and instead celebrate the raw, unfiltered essence of techno. Her productions combine hypnotic atmospheres with raw, percussiveelements, reflecting her distinctive artistic vision. She has released music on respected labels such as BCCO, Splatter Imprint, Subhills, Nine O Nine, and DYS Records. Constantly evolving, Telicho continues to push boundaries in both her performances and productions, leaving a lasting mark on the underground electronic music scene.
